Playable Races
The first step to creating a character for Dungeons & Dragons is to choose a race. There are several playable races found in the Player's Handbook, each with its own characteristics and lore. Here is a brief description of each race:
Dragonborn
Dragonborn are humanoid dragons with scaled skin and breath weapons. They are proud and honorable people, often drawing strength from their draconic heritage.
Dwarf
Stout and tough, dwarves are skilled craftsmen and warriors. Often living underground, dwarves are skilled craftsmen, warriors, and are known for their strong personalities.
Elf
Elves are graceful and long-lived creatures with keen senses and an affinity for magic. Subraces include High Elves, Wood Elves, and Dark Elves (Drow).
Gnome
Known for their optimism and ingenuity, gnomes are small and curious fey creatures with a knack for tinkering.
Half-Elf
Combining the adaptability of humans and the refined senses of elves, half-elves often find themselves torn between two worlds.
Half-Orc
The half-orc, born of human and orc parents, is strong and imposing, possessing a fierce determination and resilience.
Halfling
A halfling is a small and nimble creature who has a knack for stealth and luck, which makes them excellent rogues and adventurers.
Human
A versatile and adaptable race, humans excel in many classes and backgrounds in the D&D world.
Tiefling
Tieflings to have infernal ancestry, which is evident on their horns, tails, and red skin. They possess a natural charm as well as the ability to wield magic related to their ancestry.
